Growing Conditions
Missouri Hopper, one of Napa’s oldest vineyards, consists of 45 acres on the famed Oakville Bench. Purchased by Charles Hopper and given to his daughter Missouri in 1877, today it is owned by the Beckstoffer family. Wines from this vineyard consistently display a balance of power and refinement.
For Amici the 2017 wine grape harvest will truly be remembered as a harvest of teamwork and dedication showed on all levels from our team, colleagues, friends and the first responders that saved our homes and livelihood. The quality of the 2017 vintage is ever present and is producing wines of vibrancy, tenacity and character, much like the traits needed by all who helped the wine industry through such a challenging end to the season.
Winemaking
Dense and concentrated, the 2017 Missouri Hopper is a powerhouse, character-filled wine. Aromas of herbs and crushed rock accompany notes of currant, plum and licorice. On the palate, the wine is plush yet nuanced, with bittersweet chocolate flavors, black currant, and cedar. Firm yet fine tannins carry through the long, opulent finish.
