Growing Conditions

Morisoli Vineyard consists of 53 contiguous acres on the famed Rutherford Bench in the Napa Valley. Gary Morisoli is the fourth generation of his family to grow grapes on this historic property, which has been family-farmed for over 100 years. Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit from this vineyard is some of the most sought after in the Napa Valley. Surrounded by Staglin Family Vineyard, Scarecrow, Joseph Phelps Vineyards and Inglenook, Morisoli Vineyard fruit exhibits classic “Rutherford Dust” qualities and rich Cabernet Sauvignon character.

2013 is widely regarded as one of the best vintages on record for Napa Valley winemaking. The ideal year began with a mild spring and no frosts, and continued with a summer and fall that brought warm, even temperatures and no heat waves. Throughout the growing season the vines enjoyed warm days and cool nights, allowing a long, slow ripening that resulted in beautifully balanced wines with fully developed flavors and fresh acidity.

Winemaking

With its deeply stained purple color, intense aromas of bramble- berry, sweet plum, and dried cherry with notes of clove, baking chocolate, and pie spice, this is an elegant powerhouse of a wine. It presents dusty tannins, supple texture, and rich flavors of sweet fruits with complex notes of pipe tobacco, roasted coffee and vanilla, full-powered through its long finish.
