Nose
Our 2009 Monte Rosso Cabernet exudes aromas of dark chocolate covered cherries and figs, root beer, hints of vanilla and toasty oak.
Palate
Structured, big tannins; dark cocoa, savory spices, and dark red fruit on the palate, end in a medium finish.
Growing Conditions
Originally planted in 1880, Monte Rosso Vineyard sits at an elevation of nearly 1,000 feet on the southwest hills of the Mayacamas Mountains in Sonoma Valley. Known for its bright red, iron-rich soils, we source from three blocks within this vineyard that makes up our dark, complex and intense Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaking
Fermented in stainless steel, 100% ML, aged for 24 months in predominately French oak, and some American oak.
Aging
40% new barrels, 60% seasoned. The wine was then pulled out of barrel, blended and placed into a mixture of French and American oak, for an additional 4.5 months.
