Nose
As with previous vintages, our 2009 Sonoma County Cabernet shines aromatically with rich, dark fruit and beautifully integrated notes of oak. As it opens up, there are layers of red berries, rose petals, black cherries, leather, mocha, and mint.
Palate
The palate is sleek and concentrated with dark fruit, spice, cola, and cedar. The finish is framed by bright acids and big, juicy tannins.
Growing Conditions
The core of our 2009 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon came from the Sonoma Valley AVA. To generate more complexity, we harvested fruit from a handful of low-yielding, rocky sites that offered a diversity of exposures. The cooler, east-facing vineyards brought balance and elegance to the wine while the warmer, west-facing parcels delivered riper aromatics and broader tannins. We also included fruit from the Alexander Valley (12%) and Knights Valley (3%) to deepen the bouquet and round out the palate.
Aging
