The Austin Hope Mourvèdre-Syrah is produced by our Hope Family Vineyard, which is 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean and in the Templeton Gap district of Paso Robles where the cooling maritime breezes reach the vineyard every afternoon during the growing season, often producing large diurnal swings. The site’s rocky soils of clay and limestone, partnered with the warm days and cools nights, make it ideal for our Rhone varietals – Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Roussanne. Our Mourvèdre and Syrah blocks are planted in high density, 5.5’x6’and 5’x 5’ spacing. Our vineyard is SIP Sustainably Certified and we farm to maintain optimal vine balance, resulting in fruit with great intensity and rich berry flavors. We source this old vine Chenin Blanc from a vineyard in the Paso Robles Highlands District. Planted in 1972 by a ranch family that has grazed and farmed the land since 1875, this old vine Chenin Blanc has stood the test of time. These vines are hearty and deep rooted in sandy loam. The Rhône Blend delivers warm aromas of lavender, plum and blackberry with suggestions of bacon fat and Provençale herbs. We found good fortune in sourcing fruit from two very different vineyards in Santa Barbara County that each bring something special to the table. One is an up-and-coming vineyard just south of the town of Orcutt along the 101 highway. Sandy soils prevail here where the vineyard is tucked into gentle, rolling slopes. While seasonal marine layers occur almost daily through summer in the morning, late summer warms to allow slow fruit maturation. The other site is a historic Grenache vineyard situated at 1400’ elevation against the San Rafael mountains of Santa Barbara County in well drained Chamise Shaly Loam soils and is known for consistently elegant Rhône varietals. Located above the summer fog layer on the valley floor, this Grenache vineyard expresses richness and deep color due to long, warm days and cooling nights during the growing season.

Treana is your quintessential Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. From the depth of color and intense nose, this wine is made with structure and purpose. Austin Hope advised on the planting of Baines Vineyard in Northern California’s Suisun Valley, and this wine represents the fruits of his labor. Formally recognized as an AVA in 1982, Suisun Valley lies adjacent to Napa Valley and benefits from the persistent marine influence of nearby San Pablo Bay.

This Lagrein & Petite Sirah blend is a beautiful rich deep purple color. On the nose, brooding mulberry is brightened by a splash of fresh blueberries and a hint of sweet sage. The dark fruit flavors continue onto the palate with the addition of rich chocolate shavings and crushed black pepper. On the finish, a surprising touch of acidity rounds out this robust red wine. Our Estate Graciano was planted in 2012 and continues to thrive. The Graciano is a beautiful dark ruby in color. Treana Blanc is a stunning full bodied new world Rhone blend with aromas of orange blossom honey, peach nectar and a hint of tropical passion fruit. A wine from some of the oldest Syrah vineyards in Santa Barbara County, reflecting the roots of the California Syrah movement. While Paso Robles continues to gain global recognition, there are discoveries yet to be made. In this spirit, we embarked on a decade-long quest to explore the potential of Paso Robles Cabernet Franc. We learned that this finicky grape thrives in only a few select microclimates, which makes Cabernet Franc the “goldilocks” of wine varieties—temperatures must be just right, neither too hot nor too cold. Quest is the culmination of this discovery, made from special sites that show what is possible from Paso Robles Cabernet Franc. Austin Hope Cellar Select Rosé is produced using the direct pressing and saignée methods. With direct pressing, individual lots of grapes were pressed whole cluster with no maceration time and racked clean, while saignée removed juice immediately following a gentle crushing of the berries.
