Our Ragpicker’s Dream is made from four traditional Portuguese varietals: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, Sousao &Tinta Roriz. It is a vintage-style Port, but as it is not made in Portugal we are not allowed to call it Port, hence the “Dessert Wine” Classification on the back label.

Rancho Tierra Rejada, Spanish for “land of worked earth,” is the original name of the 2,500 acre Paso Robles ranch that is now home to the vineyards of Broken Earth Winery. Our unique wines reflect winemaker Chris Cameron’s committed & passionate approach to all aspects of winemaking. Structure & balance are most critical, each varietal released is an accurate reflection of the style & the region.

The finished wine seems a little closed on the nose with only hints of fruit but literally explodes with flavor on the palate. Fresh acidity, great weight, and texture are hallmarks of excellent Verdelho. This wine has the benefit of being able to be served well chilled, a great summer choice.

Extra Dry

With aromas of fresh cutgrass and tropical fruit, this Portuguese varietal offers balanced botanical and acidic flavors on the palate. Pair with seafoods like oysters, scallops, or pan-seared tilapia.

On the palate, this Verdelho has bright citrus and mineral notes with acidity adding structure. Pair with herb-roasted chicken and creamy rich dishes like white cheddar mac n cheese with pancetta.

Rosé

On the nose are strawberries and crème aromas, while the palate welcomes tart berry notes with a refreshing off-dry mouthfeel and lingering finish.

It is quite firm on the palate but the masses of spicy fruit and balancing oak complement the grip nicely. The color is deep and intense reflecting the wine’s brooding nature. Bright natural acidity will ensure this wine ages for many years. *90 pts Wine Enthusiast

Red Blend

This Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon spends 20 months in New French Oak, which has an extremely tight grain and leaves little space for air exposure, creating a more delicate mouthfeel. According to the winemaker, this is a French Cabernet on steroids. Pair this wine with duck or lean beef, with nothing too rich in the sauce. Perfectly seared lamb would also go quite nicely.

Beginning with the nose: blackcurrants, pine needles, along with underlying oak spices paint the picture of international appeal. This cohesion of integrated flavors easily translates to a mouth feel full of blueberry sensations and silky tannins. Pairs exceptionally well with seared lamb.

Cabernet Franc is a significant Bordeaux variety that figures prominently in the “right bank” styles of Pomerol and St Emilion although it is rarely released there on its own. Paso Robles’ climate has the ability to get it ripe on its own and we are confident, and excited, to release this 100% varietal.

This was our first crop of Cabernet Franc from our estate vineyards and a much anticipated one. It is a very robust style that retains elegance and finesse.

The fruit and oak combine wonderfully on the nose and this harmony continues through the palate. Brighter red fruits abound with great length of flavour and a balanced firm finish.

It has a great length of flavor with hints of dark berries and licorice. The ever-present tannins are bound wonderfully with the fruit and the bright natural acidity.  This is a fairly robust wine that deserves equally rich dishes to pair.

This wine has smoky and dark fruit aromas with a gentle low-tannic mouthfeel and a soft finish, highlighting cherry, coffee, and chocolate notes. Pair this wine with meats like roast pork with a blackberry glaze.

The wine is austere at first but the movement through the palate of the fruit really emerges after a little time in the glass. At 12.01% alcohol, it is one of those unique varieties that offers fruit ripeness not accompanied by elevated warmth on the palate. Enjoy this wine with similarly subtle weighted dishes that highlight its bright, fresh personality.

Starting with lifted citrus–like aromas, the prettier characters emerge as the wine opens up. Hints of orange peel, elderflower, and green melons lead into an equally enticing palate. This wine has a great length of flavor, bright acidity, and the tiniest hint of skins at the finish exemplifying the ‘complete’ wine. *93 pts Wine Enthusiast

White Blend

On the palate, mineral characteristics show through with stone notes, coupled with tropical melon and a hint of apple. Suggested food pairing is Cajun cuisine or any type of seafood. The wine presents clear straw hues, youthful in age with a touch of acidity. With low acidity, this is a drink-now wine for a warm summer’s day.

This wine has the weight and presence of a great Chardonnay but has the added depth of much more fruit. Whereby giving it the ability to suit many different occasions and food pairings. This is also a wine that enjoys not so chilled conditions, allow the fruit to emerge by not serving too cold. *92 pts Wine Enthusiast

A medium-bodied wine with bright plum and rich blackberry flavors. It is fruity and smooth and would pair deliciously with a blue cheese burger!

The abundance of black cherry and dark plum dominate this wine. The fruit is forward and subtly supported by some oak and bright acidity. The tannins are plush but relatively soft, offering a wine for many occasions that will pair with a wide array of foods as well as an enjoyable drink on its own. 


Ripe red fruit drives this wine. Look for strawberry, raspberry, and mulberry which lead to a mouth-filling experience, nicely balanced with finer oak and skin tannins. On the palate, it appears softer but the ripe tannins lend a lift to the extended flavors on the back end.

As a full-bodies red, the palate is greeted by a punch of dark berry flavors with hints of pepper and oak notes. Pair with foods like blue-cheese burgers and all things BBQ.

Hints of green melon, freshly ground coconut, and green apple accompany the more typical ripe apricot characters. The richness rivals great Chardonnays but its fruit is far more evident. The lack of oak handling sees this wine is a great partner to many food styles, particularly spicy food. This is a wine for all seasons.

The style of wine is focused on ripe, tropical fruit with a softer palate while still maintaining balanced natural acidity. The wine is very dry with a lower alcohol than you would typically expect from Paso Robles. The wine is medium-bodied with bright natural acidity. Like Sauvignon Blanc? You'll love this wine!
