Growing Conditions
MacLean’s Dance Pinot Noir is a blend of two of our Single Vineyard sites in the Russian River Valley: MacLean’s Block and Fog Dance Vineyard. MacLean’s Block is an estate vineyard off Harrison Grade east of the town of Occidental. It is surrounded by forest that is home to cougars, bobcats, wild turkeys and red-tailed hawks. This organically farmed vineyard block is planted to Dijon 667 and 777 selections of Pinot Noir and has its roots in Goldridge fine sandy loam soil. The Fog Dance Vineyard is an estate vineyard on rolling hills in the Green Valley AVA. Overlooking Atascadero Creek, Fog Dance was planted in 1996 on Goldridge fine sandy loam soils to Dijon selections 667, 777 and 115. The two vineyards are quite different, and each brings complementary aromas and flavors to this one-of-a-kind blend. Fog Dance Vineyard brings cool Green Valley terroir, showing the brightness and purity of cherry, berry and cranberry flavors along with an elegant and refined texture. MacLean’s Block a more powerful and complex signature of mocha and earth aromas and dark cherry and mocha-spice flavors. 2009 marks our first MacLean’s Dance bottling.
