Hayseed and Housdon Pray For Love Bottle Preview
Hayseed and HousdonPray For Love

We think our 2020 Pray For Love Pinot Noir is an excellent representation of a quality Cal-style Pinot Noir - offering ample fruit without tipping the jammy scale too significantly. Use of stem inclusion (25% whole cluster) and barrel fermentation (50% new French) balanced sweetness effectively, while also helping to intensify the earthiness and complexity of this wine. This Pinot Noir has a nose that is surprisingly fragrant (more of flowers than socks) and a deep, ruby color that might lead you to question whether you are about to take a sip of a Pinot at all. But then you do, and all those doubts disappear. Profits from Pray For Love are shared with Wine4Paws to help raise funds for Woods Humane Society - an organization that provides pet adoption services and the humane care of dogs & cats in SLO County. Dogs and cats that we like to think are praying for someone to take them home and love them, hence the name of this wine.

End a long-term relationship with Chardonnay because your tired of its oaky stubbornness and buttery excuses? Well, we think our 2021 Steel Reins Chardonnay May tempt you into giving this varietal a second chance. Modestly dry, crisp and clean-our stainless steel fermented, Chablis-styled Chardonnay has notes of Meyer lemon and Fuji apple with a hint of honey on the finish. It promises to be the perfect companion to grilled shellfish, aromatic cheeses and dried fruits. Profits generated through the sale of our 2021 Steel Reins Chardonnay are split 50/50 with Lumina Alliance. A SLO county based organization previously known as RISE that provides crisis intervention, counseling and other services to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence.

Hayseed and Housdon La Macha Bottle Preview
Hayseed and HousdonLa Macha

The strength and complexity of La Macha will be a surprise to those tempted to underestimate a wine based on color and body alone. Our 2019 La Macha is a blend of tempranillo (35%), graciano (25%), mataro (25%) and garnacha (15%). Each varietal has its own story and makes a unique contribution to this blend. Tempranillo is el jefe and the dominant component of the crew. Graciano shows up with spice and intensity - and like the earthy Mataro is a relatively recent immigrant to the Paso area. Garnacha's role, perhaps owing to this varietal's long history in California, is to provide maturity and a feminine balance to this delicious Rioja-styled wine. Sales of our 2019 La Macha will raise funds for 805UndocuFund - a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to working families within our community that due to their immigration status are not eligible for government programs.

Hayseed and Housdon Rhone Rodeo Bottle Preview
Hayseed and HousdonRhone Rodeo

We named our grenache Rhône Rodeo because this wine somewhat defies perception - and we are always intrigues by things that do. Who knew, for instance, that one of the largest rodeos in the world takes place each year in Saint-Agrève – about a half day horse ride from the Rhône River in southern France? About this wine: there is a perception that grenache wines from Paso can be too fruity with a little too much kick. Our Rhône Rodeo Grenache promises you a slightly different kind of ride given that we sourced this fruit from Edna Valley where summer temperatures are much cooler than Paso. As a cool climate grenache, Rhône Rodeo is surprisingly dry, with nice acid and flavors of cherry and cardamom - and it has surprisingly low ABV at only 13.7%. Profits generated through the sale of our Rhône Rodeo Grenache are split 50/50 with CASA of San Luis Obispo, an organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the court system.
