A love letter from Jack Messina to his wife, Robin, who was born in Neptune, New Jersey, this wine is the clearest expression of the terroir and Syrah at Jada. Our “Jersey Girl” is made in a Cote-Rotie style to balance the dark fruit, spice, and meatiness of our 383 clone which is the backbone of this wine with the bright, lively expression of fruit and perfume come from the Estrella clone Syrah and Viognier that also make up this wine. Soil notes: Dark, Brown Clay Loam. Limestone boulders in top horizons, and shale layer at 63"- 69". Soil pH: 8.3 • Clonal/Rootstock Selections: Syrah - Estrella/5C, 383/420A Graciano - 571/1103P Viognier - 642/420A "The 2018 Syrah Jersey Girl checks in as 94% Syrah, 5% Viognier, and 1% Graciano that spent 16 months in 45% new French oak. Classic blackberry fruit as well as notes of pepper, violets, candied orange, and bacon fat all emerge from this beauty, which is medium to full-bodied and has a flawlessly balanced, elegant texture, no hard edges, and a great finish. It's a beautiful, classic Paso Robles Syrah that does everything right." - JEB DUNNUCK, Sept 2020
97 pts, JD (Sept 2021) Inky dark, the 2019 Jersey Girl Syrah is scented of cassis, white pepper, eucalyptus, and cacao with flavors of "candied violets", aniseed, blue fruits, white truffles, and "smoked game". The clearest expression of the terroir and Syrah at Jada, our “Jersey Girl” is made in a Cote-Rotie style to balance the dark fruit, spice, and meatiness of our 383 clone which is the backbone of this wine with the bright, lively expression of fruit and perfume that come from our Estrella clone Syrah and Viognier, which also make up this wine. "Mineral-laced fruits" with a long, lively finish, this wine should continue to reward with additional time in the bottle (peak aging recommendation: 2024-2030).
Cassis, blueberry compote, bone marrow, violet, cacao, and white pepper. An eclectic blend, named after the eclectic and iconic neighborhood in NYC, our 2019 Hell's Kitchen replicates the iconoclastic Rhone-style wine that has made this wine such a hit with customers and critics alike. 5 separate fermentation compromise this wine creating a seductive florality on the nose and finish along with a lively and juicy palate and rustic, fine-grained tannins. 95+ PTS, WINE ADVOCATE
