Palate

Savory and intoxicating as the wine pulls you even deeper to the glass, where you experience dark salted caramel chocolate truffle. The palate is a true mirror image with this full bodied core of minerality that is like a ping pong match, going back and forth from Hermitage to Rockpile, then Rockpile to Hermitage.

Growing Conditions

Granite, loam, and clay quartz makes up this heaviest and rockiest section of the Rockpile Vineyard. Jeff has been working with this vineyard for more than 10 years. The granite adds the mineral backbone to the weight that the clay creates in this wine. 15-year old trellis vines of the 470 small berry Syrah selection make this wine a true experience that one doesn't forget.

40% whole cluster, hand punch down 5 times a day.

Aging

16 months 100% New French oak 228L barrel.
