Nose

Perfect expression of classic restrained yet expressive new world Cabernet. Loaded with aromatic notes of graphite, violets, and red and black currants, the Meso starts with a very Left Bank-styled nose right from the get-go.

Palate

On the palate, more subtle notes of cedar, cassia, and iron start to emerge. The palate itself is broad, with large structured but well-integrated tannins that transition seamlessly into a long, pleasing finish filled with hints of roasted toffee and espresso dust.

Growing Conditions

With its perfectly aspected southwest facing slopes, limestone-rich foothills, and marine-influenced terroir, the property lies in the heart of the Willow Creek District, which has come to be known as the top sub-appellation of Paso Robles. The terroir of Willow Creek shows in its wines. The best expressions are richly textured and precisely structured, with mineral or loamy accents and ripe tannins. Our neighboring wineries Saxum, Denner, and Linne Calodo have long been regarded as the cult wineries of the region.

Winemaking

Gentle extraction to preserve the fruit, macerated on skins for 19 days before being pressed to barrel in a small, 12 hL basket press. These fermentations occurred in small open-top fermenters that were punched down 2-3 times per day.
