and fresh fruit notes of golden apple, apricot, and white plums
Palate
The
mouthfeel is juicy, round and creamy, with a balance of mineral notes,
spices and fresh fruit tones of apricot and Fuji apple. The mid-palate has
good weight and a bright acid balance with notes of fresh bread dough,
honeysuckle, Meyer lemon leading to a rich and complex finish.
Growing Conditions
This inaugural release of our Grower Series highlights the long term
partnership with one of our main vineyard partners, Peter Nissen,
who farms the 110 acres of our Estate Vineyard at Devaux Ranch.
2013 was a very good grape growing season in the Napa Valley that led to
a classic and beautiful vintage. This wine is a blend of three Napa
Carneros Chardonnay vineyards farmed by Peter Nissen. All reached full
maturity with great complexity of flavors and aromas, while retaining
great acidity and balance which are beautifully showcased in this wine.
Harvest
The grapes are hand-harvested in the cool morning hours to ensure they
arrive at the winery in pristine condition.
Winemaking
The individual vineyard lots
are fermented separately at cool temperatures in small stainless steel tanks
to preserve freshness and fruit intensity.
Aging
This wine has been aged on
secondary fermentation yeasts for 32 months, adding depth and
complexity to the finish.
Food Pairing
This wine will pair nicely alongside a plate of springtime vegetables with
an herbed crème fraiche, or with a seafood salad.
