Nose
Starts slowly but quickly gains momentum, with layers of ripe, rich, deeply concentrated black cherry, blackberry, anise, sage and coffee. A gorgeous array of aromas including melted road tar, blackberry liqueur, damp earth, cassis, and white flowers.
Palate
Plush and spicy coffee, mocha and grapey watermelon and pomegranate persist on the aftertaste. . Voluptuous, fleshy, medium to fullbodied, and pure with supple tannin
Growing Conditions
The Bone Rock blend comes from the Bone Rock block of James Berry Vineyard. It is a steep terrace of old head trained Syrah vines on a south facing slope. We unearthed fossilized whale bones when we terraced it and then needed to use jack hammers to plant the vines.

Our wines are never racked off their lees and are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Released: Spring 2003
