Nose

A nose filled with dark fruit and baking spice.

Palate

The palate showcases fruit flavors of raspberry and cherry with lighter notes of cinnamon and sweet spice. A seam of mouthwatering acidity neatly pulls all of the flavors together and complements the well-integrated tannins.

Harvest

2015 was a fantastic vintage producing high quality fruit. It began with an earlier than average bud break and an intense, compacted harvest beginning earlier than average as well. The high temperatures in August and early September accelerated maturity and picking times. The fruit had smaller berries with concentrated flavors that produced exceptional quality fruit.

Winemaking

The fruit was crushed and then destemmed into a tank for a four day cold soak. The grapes were pressed slightly sweet with only a light press fraction added back. It went into 25% new Hungarian and 25% new American oak, with the rest in neutral oak. The wine was aged for 12 months, and then blended with Malbec, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot for enhanced color and body.

Aging

12 months in new and neutral Hungarian and American oak.

Appearance

A dark purple color.

Food Pairing

It’s well paired with duck confit ravioli with roasted squash and a red wine reduction sauce. The wine’s red fruit is a great match with the rich flavors of the duck and the squash brings an organic layer that ties it all together.
