Nose
This dry rosé has a beautiful nose of bing cherry and dried strawberry with a hint of bramble.
Palate
In the mouth the wine is crisp and dry and loaded with the bright red fruit from the nose. The body is moderate and the finish is crisp and long.
Growing Conditions
The Etesian wind tempers the warm days of summer in the eastern Mediterranean. Similarly, in California the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean cools the vineyards of Sonoma, promoting superb natural balance and well-developed flavors in our Pinot Noir grapes.
Mild weather through the summer allowed the grapes to ripen at a moderate rate developing deep and intense character. As a result of the early spring, harvest came in early but mild weather through the harvest brought the fruit in at a slow pace. This allowed us to pick each block at its optimal ripeness and get the fruit into the winery early in the day and cold. The yields were thankfully average, a welcome development after the rollercoaster of record highs and lows of recent years.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-harvested in small picking bins as not to be crushed. They were then whole-cluster pressed and fermented in 100% stainless steel at 55F to 60F to retain freshness.
Food Pairing
Pair with grilled salmon, spicy thai chicken or a chevre goat cheese beet salad.
