Delightful aromas of Asian pear, apple and hints of toffee.
Palate
The palate is rich and textured with citrus and light spice characters intertwined with peach, pear and stewed red apples.
Growing Conditions
The microclimate of our east side vineyard in Sonoma's Carneros district is strongly affected by the marine influences of San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean through the Petaluma Gap. The vineyard is blanketed with fog beginning in April and throughout the growing season. The fog can linger until noon on some days ensuring a cool and long growing season. These conditions yield Pinot Grigio with distinctive fruit flavors and aromas.
Aging
The grapes were hand-picked and gently crushed, then pumped directly to a tank press where the juice was pressed off the skins and seeds. The juice was then then pumped to a stainless steel tank and chilled to 50˚ F. It was racked off the remaining solids after 24 hours and pumped to a fermenting tank where a single strain of wine yeast was introduced. The wine fermented at a cool 50 degrees until the majority of the natural sugar was converted into alcohol. The wine was then settled, racked and filtered. This vintage was not oaked to preserve the fruit flavors.
Appearance
The 2015 Pinot Grigio from Sonoma Coast has a golden color.
