Nose
Black cherry and cranberry are the main focus of the aromatics, but then you pick up caraway seeds, cinnamon sticks and black licorice.
Palate
On the palate the wine is lush and full but also like a dance between a ballet dancer and Muhammed Ali, elegant and light on its feet but with great power and structure.
Growing Conditions
Saitone Vineyard in Russian River Valley has over 100 year old Carignane vines which look gnarly and ancient, but produce a Carignane that deserves to be bottled on its own, rather than make its way into a blend.
Winemaking
30% whole cluster, open top fermentation.
Aging
16 months, neutral French oak.
