Nose
Fruity aromas of boysenberry and currant combine with fragrant notes of toasty vanilla and sage.
Palate
Full bodied mouthfeel with well-structured tannins that lead to an elegant finish.
Growing Conditions
The red volcanic soil and pleasantly warm climate of this hillside vineyard combine to produce rich, full-bodied wines. Located on the eastern slopes of Sonoma Mountain, this vineyard gets early morning sun and breezes in the afternoons that temper the day's most extreme heat.
Bottling
Bottled July 2014.
Winemaking
After an excellent growing season, we picked the Jack London Syrah the second week of October. After crushing, it was fermented in stainless steel tanks for two weeks before it was pressed off the skins. It was then settled and racked several times before being put down into French oak barrels in early December of 2012.
Aging
18 months in French oak.
Food Pairing
The rich fruit and spicy flavors found in this Syrah complement a wide range of dishes, especially grilled beef and lamb, game birds and rich risottos.
