Growing Conditions
The Lone Pine Vineyard is an Estate ranch where we have been producing excellent Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec since 1995. It is located in the southern Sonoma Valley at the southeastern base of Sonoma Mountain. The Malbec grown at the ranch has been an important component to Kenwood’s Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon for many years. Now after two decades of being a part of a Cabernet blends we are bottling our first varietal Malbec as an exclusive offering for our tasting room.
Bottling
Bottled September 2016.
Winemaking
Harvested on October 4th, the fruit was picked by hand and brought to the winery for crushing and destemming before fermenting on the skins for two and a half weeks. The young wine was then pressed into stainless steel tanks for two months of settling before being placed in small French oak barrels. After 23 months of aging the best-tasting barrels were separated from the lot and assembled to be bottled as our limited release Lone Pine Estate Vineyard designate.
Aging
23 months in Stainless Steel Tanks & French Oak Barrels.
Food Pairing
The full-bodied character of our Lone Pine Malbec make it an excellent match for richly flavored dishes such as, Chicken Curry, Spicy Lamb Shanks, or Steak with Chimichurri Sauce.
