Nose

Aromas of ripe lemon, yellow apple and grilled pineapple, balanced with clove and vanilla spice notes, toasty oak, brioche and
subtle chamomile flower.

Palate

This full, complex wine reveals grilled toast and a touch of butter richness on entry. The mid-palate is fresh and savory with herbal notes and a hint of butterscotch, leading to a crisp finish with yellow apple skin, baking spice and mineral character.

Growing Conditions

Lorenzo Vineyard, located near the Laguna de Santa Rosa, is the coldest chardonnay vineyard site that Landmark receives and more often concludes our harvest each year. This cool spot and the age of the vines allow the fruit to fully ripen at a very slow pace retaining its natural acidity and the zippiness and structure for which Lorenzo is known.

Bottling

Bottled unfiltered February 2016.

Winemaking

Each block was whole cluster pressed and the juice was allowed to settle overnight. Early the next morning the juice was racked off its gross lees and put into French oak barrels (40% new). After about five days, the native fermentation started and lasted about 25 days peaking at about 70 F. Malolactic fermentation finished in Mid-March. The lees are gently stirred every two weeks until May to build flesh and round out the mouthfeel.

Aging

15 months in French oak (40% new).

Appearance

A pale lemon color.

Food Pairing

Linguini Alfredo with smoked salmon, stuffed chicken breast with a wild mushroom cream sauce, or a wide variety of cheeses.
