Nose

Aromatic with bright lemon, yellow apple, and white peach, citrus blossom and subtle tropical notes.

Palate

On the palate it is crisp, full and vibrant with citrus and stonefruit mixed with white flowers on entry. The mid palate shows classic Pinot Gris mineral texture with a subtle, savory lager-like accent. The finish is rich with a creamy backdrop and the slightest spicy hint of nutmeg as it lingers on the palate.

Growing Conditions

Our Pinot Gris is sourced completely from our Hop Kiln Vineyard on Westside Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The block is located on the first bench above the Russian River and is characterized by gravelly, well-drained soils that are planted to the slow ripening 152 Pinot Gris clone, both contributing to the great aromatics and texture of this wine.

Bottling

Bottled February 2017.

Winemaking

The fruit was lightly whole cluster pressed and fermented at colder temperatures in stainless steel to emphasize varietal fresh citrus and aromatic floral elements.

Appearance

Daybright, pale straw in the glass.

Food Pairing

Crisp and textured with refreshing citrus and floral character mixed with savory elements, the 2016 Landmark Pinot Gris is perfect with a classic Moules Frite (steamed mussels with fries), Ahi Tuna Poke, or with Northern French or Swiss style cheeses like Comté or Gruyere.
