Palate

Dense fruit flavors of boysenberry and black currant give way to toffee and black truffle on the long finish.

Growing Conditions

It is made from 100% estate grown fruit from vineyards planted by the Wulffs adjacent to their home on Atlas Peak in Napa. These rocky, volcanic hillside vineyards sit at a 1350 foot elevation, oriented to the south and west to take full advantage of the daily sun. All vines are close row planted with 3' by 4' spacing, which requires they be completely hand tended---no tractors. Since the roots struggle with the rocky soil as well as their proximity to other vines, these vines produce a smaller yield, but wonderfully concentrated flavors.

Winemaker, Victoria Coleman, has lovingly crafted this wine.

Winemaking

It is hand harvested at full ripeness and maturity, cold soaked on skins, and gently pressed.

Aging

Aged for 18 months in 75% new French Oak, primarily from Seguin Moreau, Taransaud and Baron.

Appearance

It is a luminous purple in the glass.
