Nose
Red cherry and cranberry aromas give way to notes of blackberry,
clove, rich earth, and rose petal.
Palate
Luscious flavors of dark and red fruits
are highlighted by hints of cinnamon and clove. The soft mouthfeel is
balanced by firm yet fine-grained tannins and a finish that is long and
complex.
Growing Conditions
The 2013 growing season proved to be an excellent year in Napa
Valley. It was slightly warmer than 2012, resulting in an overall earlier
growing season. Lower than normal rainfall paired with moderate
spring weather brought early bud break and bloom. Sunny skies
throughout the summer months led to early veraison and harvest.
Warm daytime temperatures followed by cool nights prior to harvest
produced evenly ripened fruit with ideal hang time.
Winemaking
Rolando’s goal is to create a Pinot so big and bold it can pair with
a steak. We strive for low yields in the vineyard and then bleed the
juice from the skin to extract the purest and richest flavors.
Aging
100% new French oak for 18 months.
Food Pairing
The traditional Thanksgiving meal (e.g. turkey and cranberry) pairs
beautifully with this wine, but we would hate for you to drink this only
once a year. Try game meats and earthy flavors - wild boar, anyone?
