Palate
Our Sangiovese has gorgeous flavors of dried berry, chocolate-covered cherry, graphite and sasparilla. Texturally, Sangiovese’s typical lean profile and ripe tannins are fleshed out by 10% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Growing Conditions
Across the board, we find our 2008 reds to be stunning and expressive in the lush style reminiscent of 2002. While the 2007 wines are concentrated, structured and age-worthy as in 2001, the 2008’s are all about immediate gratification, with ripe, integrated tannins, a roundness in the mid-palate that is sure to seduce, and aromas that are simply off-the-charts. A severe April freeze drastically reduced crop levels, but perfect growing conditions allowed the light crop to reach intense levels of ripeness.
