Nose
Full fruit, floral and graphite
aromatics.
Palate
Classic "Iron fist wrapped in the velvet glove". Powerful and dense
currants and blackberry notes with hints of raspberry accents. Spice
notes add an underlying complexity. Rich and very full bodied. Powerful and exotic with big
structure and yet very polished on very long dry berry-like finish.
Growing Conditions
This is the second wine made from these young Petite Sirah vines.
The dynamic results defy the notion that young vines won't make
complete and complex wines. While many 2011 wines struggled to
get fully ripe, these grapes had no problem.
Winemaking
The fruit was punched cap fermented.
Aging
Barrel aged for 32 months
in selected French and American Oak barrels then blended prior to
bottling.
