Growing Conditions
Our fifth vintage from this small, outstanding vineyard on the lower slopes of the eastern Oakville hills. “Pedregal” means a rocky place in Spanish, and that is certainly a distinguishing feature of the site. This is a small, hillside vineyard on the lower slopes of eastern Oakville that's planted to 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Petit Verdot.
2008 was a warmer vintage, which optimized maturity throughout the growing season. As a result, this vintage produced reds with chewier tannins and is recognized as a great vintage for the Napa Valley.
Bottling
Non-filtered.
Aging
Aging the 2008 sur lies with monthly bâtonnage has coated the tannins and smoothly integrated the wood. We left this vintage 26 months in 100% new French barrels (Taransaud, Demptos Reserve and Darnajou).
