Nose
This very effusive Pinot Noir displays warm aromas of paprika, blueberry compote, dark cherry, and dried mushrooms.
Palate
Roasted stems bring a dense and focused quality to the mouthfeel. The palate is smooth with dark berry character, entwined with warm spicy barrel and hints of wet stone leading into a sweet lingering finish laced with baking spice.
Growing Conditions
This is a very unique vineyard from Anderson Valley, featuring steep hillsides and light gravelly soils that combine to create optimal ripening conditions. The Corners is typically sourced from the upper elevation blocks, where small vines and berries produce a concentrated and opulent wine. Warm Afternoon Sun fully ripens grapes, while cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean—only 12 miles away—extends the growing season.
Harvest
The 2015 growing season in Anderson Valley was characterized by early bud break and a quick harvest. Early spring was unusually warm, however temperatures dropped in May causing ripening to slow, this allowed for flavor development and higher acidity. Yields were lower but the small berries and shatter that characterized this vintage resulted in impressive quality in the bottle.
Aging
10 Months in 50% new French Oak.
