Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery
More from this Producer
Named for the fermentation technique, our Carbonic Grenache is meant to be enjoyed cold on a hot day. Complex aromas of rhubarb pie and dried raspberry. The palate is soft and supple with a velvety texture. Flavors of fresh strawberries and dried hibiscus petals lead to a long, seamless finish.
Named after the B-29 aircraft that Bob’s father flew in WWII, our Old 900 Syrah holds a special place at Alta Colina. This wine is single block, single clone (Alban), and comes from the one north-facing slope on the Vineyard. Known for its boldness and balance, Old 900 is among our marquee offerings. Our 13th vintage of Old 900 continues the tradition of distinct and delicious Syrah’s from this north-facing block. The unique nose opens with wet slate, graphite, and tobacco leaf. Broad and lively, this elegant wine is bright on the palate with flavors of juicy red plum and fresh black currant.
Inspired by old world producers and new world benchmarks, our GSM has been a bulwark of the lineup since the first vintage in 2007. Always a stellar food accompaniment, our GSM has trended toward a greater concentration of Grenache over the last decade. The latest edition of our signature GSM comes with aromas of Paso garrigue, dark plum, black cherry, and a basket of potpourri. A beautiful, broad entry brims with flavors of dried cherries and raspberry iced tea, leads to a medium bodied mid-palate with a long, structured finish.
One of our signature reds, Toasted Slope embodies everything that makes Paso a world-class Syrah growing region. Grown on the largest contiguous section of Alta Colina Vineyard, “Toasted Slope” is our nickname for the southwest-facing hillside where we grow this wine. Sun soaked and warm, this signature Syrah is a great example of the potential for blockbuster Syrahs from Paso Robles. Aromas of blueberry reduction sauce, hints of green peppercorn, and graphite. The palate is filled with flavors of blueberries and cream, blackberry cobbler, and baking spices.
The perfect drink-now red blend from Alta Colina Vineyard. This approachable cuvee balances the power and structure of Syrah with the elegance and nuance of Grenache. The nose opens with notes of dark cherries and red currants, which lead to a soft and balanced palate with flavors dried cranberries and fresh blueberries.
Our Downslope White is an instantly approachable white Rhone blend. Made from the lowest altitude sections of our high-altitude, hilltop Vineyard, Downslope White is meant to be enjoyed asap. Reminiscent of a summer’s day, this blend opens with aromas of gardenia, pear, blossoms, and fresh stone fruit. Lively on the tongue, the palate shows flavors of cantaloupe, pear, and white peach with a hint of crème brûlée.
