Nose
The 2013 Propriety Red is a multi-layered wine with aromas of black plum and contrasting flavors of earth, underbrush, tarragon and savory black olive notes.
Palate
This wine has an elegant structure with well-integrated tannins and a long finish that continues to evolve on the palate.
Growing Conditions
This Proprietary Red Blend is the truest expression of its vintage, with each year’s release containing different combinations of the five Bordeaux varietals sourced from Arrowood’s top vineyard sites. Each year winemaker, Kristina Werner, strives to create the most complete and complex wine possible outside the bounds of a single varietal. This means that the blending process can often go through over ten iterations before the ultimate blend is selected for optimal structure, texture and finish.
Winemaking
Stainless steel fermented, malolactic in tank, racked to barrel.
Aging
24 months in oak, 38% new; blended after 18 months and then back to barrel for an additional 6 months to integrate.
