Nose

On the nose, vanilla bean, bright plum and fresh leather nuances.

Palate

Dried cherry, blackberry and currant flavors are balanced by notes of peppercorn, leather and toasted oak. Firm yet supple tannins add length to a silky finish.

Growing Conditions

The 2021 growing season
was steady through spring with warm days and cool nights. The summer was marked by a few unexpected heat waves, but marine breezes and mild weather
prevailed into the harvest season. Patience was required as we entered an extended ripening
period, and we were rewarded with mature flavors and beautifully balanced fruit.

Winemaking

The Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve fruit was harvested and fermented as
individual vineyard lots, then transferred to a combination of 10-percent new French and
American oak barrels for an initial aging period of 13 months.

Aging

The finest barrels of the
vintage were then selected and blended for Liberty School Reserve treatment, including
three months of additional aging in 75-percent new French oak to enhance the wine’s
complexity and mouthfeel.
