Nose

Enveloping aromas of blue fruits, toasted oak, leather and tobacco leaf.

Palate

A lusciously textured palate unfolds with flavors of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry and cinnamon graham. Notes of mocha join polished tannins on a juicy, sumptuous finish.

Growing Conditions

We source Treana Cabernet Sauvignon predominantly from three diverse districts
in the Paso Robles AVA: the Estrella District with its loamy, gravelly river plain slopes
and canyons; the San Juan District, featuring warmer temperatures than most of
Paso Robles with deep sandy loam riverbed soils formed by ancient water flow;
and the Geneseo District located in the heart of the AVA, where gentle rolling
river plains are diverse in soil types but always contain ancient seabed deposits.

The 2022 growing season was slightly warmer than average. Mild conditions
prevailed through spring and early summer, followed by a heat wave and extended
warm temperatures in September that accelerated fruit ripening. On average, the
grapes were picked a week a week earlier than typical.

Winemaking

After harvest, the different vineyard lots were fermented individually in stainless-steel tanks for 10 to 14 days. Extended macerations and carefully managed pumpovers enhanced the extraction of color and tannin. The lots were aged separately for 16 months in a combination of 25% once and twice used French oak and 75% neutral French and American oak. The initial blend was assembled in early February of 2024 and aged for an additional four months in 10 percent new and 36% once-used French oak. The wine was racked only twice during its cellar life, with the final racking occurring just prior to bottling.
