Growing Conditions

This limited 3 barrel selection is sourced from an incredible small organic vineyard in Forestville, on the edge of Green Valley. Dense iron ore, black currant, and deep rose is a testament to the sought after Goldridge soils.

Sourced from a 3 acre certified organic vineyard just on the edge of Green Valley of the Russian River, planted in 1999, in much sought after Goldridge soils derived from the remains of an ancient inland sea that slowly emptied into the Pacific three to five million years ago. Particularly valuable for its excellent drainage and exceptional, natural chemical balance, the soils yield low vigor and concentrated fruit. Located in one of the coolest coastal climatic regions of Russian River, the maritime fog enters the Russian River Valley through the Petaluma Wind Gap, and is last region where the fog retreats. The combination of the picture perfect long, moderate growing season of 2012, the maritime climate and exceptional Goldridge soils, allowed us to achieve full phenolic ripeness while retaining natural acidity and balanced tannins.
