Nose
Reflective of the rugged redwoods in Mendocino's Anderson Valley, the euphoric nose opens with forest floor, clove, pomegranate, blueberry and iron.
Palate
Plushly bound to a bright, mouth-coating Bing cherry core closing with soft velvety and lush tannins. The staggering low yield of dense Pommard fruit with penetrating concentration forged this energizing and luscious wine.
Loads of dark cherry and raspberry notes with a hint of pomegranate, cedar wood, allspice and background wood.
Growing Conditions
Our three hillside blocks grown in weathered sandstone soil beds were all co-fermented resulting in a cohesive and dense structure, representative of this top tiered vineyard. This is a powerhouse Pinot. Located on 44 acres in Anderson Valley and planted in 1991 in a collaboration between Rich Savoy and Ted Lemon (Littorai), Savoy vineyard is one of the most respected vineyards of Pinot Noir. Farmed using organic and sustainable methods with a modern vertical trellis system, the vineyard lies among gentle sloping southwest facing terraces leading to the Navarro River.
Aging
