Palate
Explosive savory layers of reduced black raspberries, pomegranate, iron, sage oil, tea leaf and crushed violets are wrapped around a knife-cutting, muscular black cherry core with notes of cedar, clove and grilled plum bound by rich lavish tannins.
This wine has a more masculine character, no doubt because of the high percentage of Pommard. Loads of dark cherry and raspberry notes with a hint of pomegranate, cedar wood, allspice and background wood. This wine should age nicely for ten or more years.
Growing Conditions
Our three hillside blocks grown in weathered sandstone soilbeds were all co-fermented resulting in a cohesive and dense structure, representative of this top tiered vineyard. This is a powerhouse Pinot. Savoy vineyard is one of the most respected vineyards of Pinot Noir, planted in 1991 in collaboration of Rich Savoy and Ted Lemon (Littorai) located on 44 acres in Anderson Valley. Farmed using organic and sustainable methods with a modern vertical trellis system, the vineyard lies among gentle sloping southwest facing terraces leading to the Navarro River.
