Palate
Lush wild black fruits, figs, orange peel, raspberry compote, black cherry, crushed rock, rustic woodsy sandalwood blend together with dried rose petal and coastal berries focused around a deep lathered texture of black plum flesh and intoxicating wild strawberry giving to an engaging velvet palate.
This wine offers up floral notes intermixed with sassafras, raspberries, forest floor and strawberries. It is lush and ripe, from destemmed grapes, with a medium to full body and beautiful purity. Drink it over the next decade.
Growing Conditions
Sourced from two coastal vineyards, Labyrinth and Robert Roberts. Labyrinth is a single, dry-farmed, 2 acre CCOF Certified Organic vineyard located at the juncture of the Russian River and Green Valley AVA’s of Sonoma County. Planted in deep Goldridge soils, the vineyard was originally comprised of approximately 70% Pommard 4 and 30% Dijon 115 grafted onto 101-14 or 3309 rootstocks. Recently we have added about 10% 667 to add another component to the complex of flavors.
Roberts Road is located at the base of Sonoma Mountain at the far northern edge of the Petaluma Gap next to Gap's Crown Vineyard. Pinot Noir grapes from Roberts Road Vineyard are amongst the most prestigious that the Sangiacomo family cultivate. The growing season is long, slow, and even, making for good balance. The vineyard stays in the fog until mid-day and it is always one of the last vineyards to be harvested. Bordered by Copeland Creek on the north, the soil is very well drained with silty gravel.
Appearance
