Nose
An intensely tropical nose of banana and pineapple while adding in layers of watermelon and honeydew.
Palate
The interplay of upfront refreshing acidity and ripe flavors elements is perfectly balanced and is complimented by a lactic richness giving this wine a surprisingly sophisticated finish.
Growing Conditions
Our 2020 Vin Gris is comprised of 50% Pinot Noir from the Webster Vineyard, 25% Grenache and 25% Malbec from the Calcareous Estate. The 2020 Vintage was marked by a late bloom and slow development through spring. Late summer/fall produced some massive heat spikes that produced enhanced layers of fruit. This combination shows off in the Vin Gris with big ripe fruit flavors balanced by bright acidity.
Winemaking
The fruit was handpicked and pressed whole cluster the morning it was harvested. The juice was cold settled for 24 hours and racked to a mix of neutral French oak barrels for fermentation. Kept cool in a temperature controlled room, the fermentation was drawn out for 13-20 days and malo-lactic fermentation was halted to maintain as much freshness as possible. The lees were stirred in the barrels to add some yeasty richness to balance the bright acidity. After 5 months the barrels were racked out forming the final blend. The wine was rough filtered right before bottling and released 3 weeks later.
Appearance
A gorgeous rose gold appearance.
Food Pairing
A quintessential pink wine that is simply a pleasure to drink and built to pair with a mix of our wood fired pizzas.
