At only 4 years old, Guillaume was following his father everywhere on their 6th generation vineyard in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. Fast forward 20 years, Guillaume graduated with a degree in Oenology and Viticulture ready to take on the family estate, but his parents decided it was time for a new adventure; Selling the family property to buy a new one in Bordeaux. Disappointed, Guillaume decided to move to America for an internship, but when visiting his parents he met her: Solène. “Un coup de foudre”- a bolt of lightning – from the moment they saw each other everything changed. But they had different lives to live. She had to go to Spain and he had to go to California for a 3 month harvest internship that turned into an Assistant Winemaking position. He'd fallen in love with the terroir here and could see the opportunity to build a life here. Guillaume asked her to join him in the New World in Paso Robles, refusing to take on the new family property in Bordeaux, but instead developing his own brand, Clos Solène. She knew his passion for wine would take them somewhere - she would just have to follow him and trust him. Now, in the heart of Willow Creek Distract AVA of Paso Robles you can find Guillaume & Solène at their 27 acre estate nestled within the trees that he hopes one day he can pass on to his own 3 children.
