Palate

Our An homage to a strong young woman from Casto, Italy who broke the traditional bonds of the time, traveling alone across the Atlantic and the breadth of the United States. She became the driving force behind two of the most recognized Zinfandel vineyards in California: Benito Dusi Ranch and Dante Dusi Vineyard. Caterina Gazzaroli - my great grandmother, matriarch of the Dusi Family, and creator of many of our Family Traditions.
This wine's palate twists and twirls with candied cherries and bright berries. Warm oven baked fruits and brittle toffee dance all around mid-palate. The lengthy dark fruit finish glides into a standing ovation of earth and spice.

Growing Conditions

In the Templeton Gap AVA these historic vineyards was planted in 1924 and 1945. Benito Dusi and Dante Dusi Vineyard are head trained and dry farmed by five generations of the Dusi Family.

Winemaking

Janell Dusi is the proprietor and winemaker, specializing in Zinfandel. She is a 4th generation farmer who is the first of the family to go beyond farming to produce wines from the Dusi Vineyards. She honors her heritage by winemaking in the most native form; handpicking, hand sorting and stomping her wines by foot. Her signature style is continued with non-invasive wine handling and gentle barrel aging. A combination of new French and American oak, juvenile barrels are rounded out with neutral barrels to create wines that respect and reveal the natural varietal characteristics of Zinfandel.
