To bring out the unique flavor of this reserve vintage it was fermented & aged for 18 months in two highly sought after European barrels. Together they help feature the rich aromatic notes of fresh blackberry & plum. With each sip, this wine entices with warm hints of dark chocolate, espresso & cedar.

Mitchella is a small family-owned estate vineyard and winery located on the eastside of Paso Robles along the HuerHuero Creek. We are committed to making small lots of premium handcrafted wines, and believe it starts by attentively cultivating quality wine in the vineyard. Our wines are only available at the winery or in select wine bars, shops, and restaurants.

In the eighties, after consuming a fair amount of White Zinfandel (Twin Hills, Mastantuano, etc), Angela and Darren Mitchell were converted by a bottle of 1987 Eberle Cabernet Sauvignon and their passionate quest for fine red wine began. In 1993, Darren frustrated by the high cost of their new hobby, decided to take a winemaking class taught by local Zinfandel legend, Charles Poalillo, at Cuesta Community College. What began as an attempt to save money, developed into a quest for more knowledge of wine and production, more classes (at UC Davis, Allan Hancock, Aspen School of Wine, Copia, and Cal Poly), investments in equipment and supplies, and finally, the shift back to Darren’s farming roots, a vineyard of their own.

Four years later, in 1997, wanting more control over the quality of grapes, the couple planted the first grapes: 10 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 acres of Syrah on the hilltop overlooking the old adobe farmhouse where Darren grew up. They also decided, if they were going to give the grapes the attention they deserved, they would have to move onto the property. What was supposed to be a temporary two year stint, turned into a nearly nine year adventure that finally came to fruition with the building of the home and tasting room which you see today. Since then, their passionate endeavor has consisted of updating, cultivating, and nurturing the vineyard, producing small lots of fine truly-handcrafted wines and enjoying the fruits of their labor with friends, family, and customers.

White

Fermented in neutral French oak and stainless steel, this Chardonnay is fruit forward.

Red Blend

Aging and fermenting this Cabernet Sauvignonin 100% new oak provides aromaticnotes of dark fruit giving way to rich notes of pomegranate and black cherry. This soft and silky wine features hints of spice and a satin finish.

Our first ever Pinot Gris features subtle aromas of citrus blossom, and green apple. Invigorating notes of dried lemon, honey dew melon and a short finish leaving you wanting more. Whether enjoying poolside or at the campsite this is our go to summer wine. Perfectly refreshing for those hot summer days.

White Blend

Our lovely bright pale yellow Viognier has aromas of tropical fruit and lychee with hints of honeysuckle, and jasmine blossoms. It has a delicious palate with elements of white peach, apricot, and honey comb on the finish, with overall richness on a dry and balanced frame.

A delightful 100% Estate Syrah, this wine has expressive aromas of juicy strawberries, raspberries, and plums. Hints of pepper and sweet spice combined with a velvety mouthfeel make the flavors rejoice on the palate.

This Merlot displays aromatic notes of plum and cinnamon. On the palate, rich flavors of fresh black cherry. A delicate balance of medium tannins and lush fruit lead to a surprisingly dry finish.

This 100% Grenache exhibits a welcoming bouquet of cherry blossom and sage. The midpalate is balanced by notes of dried cranberry, boysenberry, and warm pepper with lingering red plum. Fennel and cedar lead to a long, seamless finish.

The complexity of this wine has a balance of earthy minerality & dark fruit. On the nose you will smell the black cherry & currant. While it rests on the pallet there are hints of leather & spicy clove giving it a soft dry finish.

An extremely popular blend of our Leona and Presumptuous Zinfandel wines. Rich cranberry and cherry are complemented by aromas of anise and allspice on the nose. A full pallet of vanilla, caramel, and subtle blueberry compliment the finish.

This deep crimson wine fills your nose with aromas of boysenberry and Crème brûlée. Your first sips are overwhelmed with olallieberry and black cherry. While resting on the pallet there are hints of sandalwood and all spice. 

Cabernet Sauvignon-Syrah Blend

A full bodied blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Syrah and 33% Zinfandel. This complex wine has notes of pomegranate and cherry. Followed with rich velvety tannins with hints of plum and pepper.

This full bodied red has aromas of fresh blackberry, plum, & cherry pie. The palate reflects the aromas with hints of fig & black tea wrapped in smooth tannins for a long finish.


This dry farmed zinfandel from the Willow Creek District has rich, complex aromas of black cherry, dark plum and cinnamon. A subtle hint of caramel and warm sweet spice complete the finish. 

This medium bodied wine has rich notes of ripe cherry and blackberry. The sweet spice is supported by well balanced, rich tannins. The wine finishes silky and smooth with a touch of cocoa  on the palate. Perfect to enjoy now or it can be aged for many years to come.  

This locally dry farmed Adelaida Zinfandel is tempered by 18 months of American oak aging with enticing notes of ripe blackberries and boysenberry intertwined with hints of lavender and savory dried herbs. The wine finishes silky and smooth with a touch of earl grey tea on the palate.



Always a crowd pleaser, this charming wine with a notable name is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Tempranillo, and Syrah. Soft floral aromas fill your nose followed by flavors of bright cranberry. A splash of tart cherry on the pallet finishing with hints of vanilla spice.

Rosé

The refreshing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre, our Rosé has bright aromatic notes of fresh strawberry and geranium. With a slightly dry acidity, this wine has hints of guava, mango, and watermelon. This delightful Rosé makes us reminiscent of walking through the strawberry fields as a child. 



Our Bordeaux-style blend is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Merlot.  This bright purple wine teases your nose with violets, and ripe plum. With notes of dark rich fruit, pomegranate, and fig.  After just one sip you can feel the bold tannins abide long after the wine has dissipated.  It finishes with hints of fresh cut cedar.


Our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is consistent in yielding intense dark fruit with vibrant ruby red color. Complex plum, black currant, and cocoa aromas are echoed by rich, persistent flavors and velvety tannins.  

Sauvignon Blanc-Chardonnay Blend

A unique blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, & Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is layered with aromas of lemongrass, green apple, & stone fruit. It has a lush mouthfeel with tropical fruit & citrus notes.

Tinta Cão Blend

Fortified

A traditional Portuguese blend of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Cao, this deep ruby red port is rich with fresh blackberry aromas and hints of spice and licorice. The velvety smooth finish is rounded off by layers of sweet spice and tobacco.
