Nose
Consistent with previous vintages, the wine has a distinct raspberry, cherry cola and allspice aroma.
Palate
On the palate, flavors of cherry, raspberry jam, sweet oak and clove are apparent.
Growing Conditions
The 2016 vintage was an excellent example of why we live in California and raise grapes in Napa Valley. A near picture perfect growing season allowed us to fully ripen the fruit and pick at the optimum maturity.
Winemaking
Each clone was picked into a small, half-ton bin and destemmed into the same box for cold soaking, maceration and hand punch downs. After a 23-day fermentation period, each lot was kept separate.
Aging
13 months in 100% French oak barrels (30% new).
Food Pairing
It will pair well with Ahi Tuna, Petaluma Duck Breast, Grilled Chicken, and raspberry cobbler. It is complex and will gain complexity over the coming five years.
