A great bouquet of blackberries, ground pepper, candied violets, and Asian spices.

Showing a touch more meatiness and chocolate with time in the glass, it's full-bodied and has a rounded, seamless texture, great tannins, and a terrific finish.

Winemaking

The 2017 Banshee is a wonderfully deep and complex wine. With time in the glass it unveils layer after layer of fruit, earth, spice and floral notes. In warmer vintages like 2017, late ripening varietals like Mourvèdre and Grenache truly shine. This fantastic maturity, paired with the diversity of the Willow Creek AVA which allowed us to pull mid-season ripening varietals like Syrah and Graciano from cooler pockets, delivers an impeccably balanced wine. With a bit of time in the cellar, this may very well emerge as the wine of the vintage. Each varietal was fermented separately with native yeast, aged for 20 months in 300L French Oak barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. While it will truly come into its own in the cellar over the next few years and will age confidently over the next decade, in the near term, the 2017 Banshee will no doubt show beautifully after decanting.
