Palate
This growing season, the Chenin Blanc hung longer in the vineyard than it ever has and was picked at the end of October. With a cool October, the sugars remained low while allowing the grapes to develop and produce a wine packed with flavor. The wine has aromas of orchard blossoms, sea breezes, and fresh cut apples. It is crisp and focused on the palate with a lithely weight.
Growing Conditions
This fruit comes from a single vineyard in Los Alamos planted in 1974. Bordering the newly appellated winegrowing region of Alisos Canyon, the Los Alamos Vineyard has a unique growing environment. It is warmer than both Santa Maria and Los Olivos despite being approximately the same distance from the Ocean. The vines are on their own roots, and are enormous.
