The Hope family has been farming in Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived in this barely-discovered region, they planted apples and grapes. Little did they know that the rolling, oak-studded terrain of Paso Robles would one day become a viticultural terroir of significance and one of the top winegrowing regions for quality red wine within the Central Coast.
Today, Hope Family Wines produces six brands: Austin Hope, Treana, Liberty School, Troublemaker, Austin and Quest.  Austin's dream of making Paso Robles a destination for world class wines is being realized with history making accolades and scores on all of our wines and of course, the iconic Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon has set the benchmark for luxury cabernet from Paso Robles. 
The Austin Hope & Treana Tasting Cellar offers seated tastings with a casual, fun approach to award winning, world class wines. The spacious, unique tasting areas are a blend of eclectic décor, lounges and outdoor cabanas overlooking the estate vines. In 1978, Austin Hope came to Paso Robles with his family, when his parents bought a ranch and planted both vineyards and apple orchards. Attempting to punish the rebellious youngster, his father, Chuck Hope put him to work in the vineyards. Much to his father’s surprise, at just eight-years-old, Austin took to the work immediately.

Austin studied Fruit Science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, while Chuck Hope and Austin’s uncle Paul were laying the groundwork for Treana Winery. When Paul passed away in 1996, Chuck Hope turned to his son to lead the family business. The bold and brash 23 year old jumped in ready to make his mark on the business.

Working alongside then winemaker Chris Phelps, Austin quickly learned the ropes began producing a $30 red table wine from Paso Robles, which at the time was a largely unknown region. “Maybe it wasn’t the smartest thing in the world to be the first ones out there doing things, but that’s what we do.” says Austin.

Austin became Winemaker for the Hope portfolio in 1998. In 2007, with fellow Paso Winemakers started to create what would become the TTB petition for the creation of 11 new sub-AVAs for Paso Robles, a critically important distinction in moving Paso Robles towards becoming a respected wine region.

In 2019 Hope was awarded “Wine Person of the Year” by the City of Paso Robles. Upon the inaugural release of the Austin Hope Cabernet, the wine was awarded 97 points, the highest rating ever given by Wine Enthusiast to a Paso Robles wine. Following that, 2017 Austin Hope Cabernet was chosen by Wine Enthusiast as #10 Top 100 Enthusiast Wines of the World and is the first time a Paso Robles wine has made the Wine Enthusiast Top 10. Most recently the 2018 Austin Hope Cabernet was selected for Wine Enthusiasts Top 100 Wines of the World, this time landing at #7. Solidifying Austin’s place as a leader in the Paso Robles luxury Cabernet Sauvignon category.

Today, Austin’s portfolio of wines has expanded to include Austin Hope, Treana, Liberty School,Troublemaker, Quest and newly released Austin. With his everlasting desire to make wines that reflect all that Paso has to offer, Austin Hope Cabernet is – Paso Robles Defined.

Red Blend

Lusciously rich in color and texture, the Troublemaker Red Blend is a beautiful wine with aromas of dark fruit, black pepper and a hint of asphalt. On the pallet, sweet vanilla, black berry cobbler, fresh currant and our signature splash of acidity create a lingering flavor that is finished with smooth & silky tannins.

White

We source this old vine Chenin Blanc from a vineyard in the Paso Robles Highlands District. Planted in 1972 by a ranch family that has grazed and farmed the land since 1875, this old vine Chenin Blanc has stood the test of time. These vines are hearty and deep rooted in sandy loam.

Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Quest is a new wine that aims to express the increasingly recognized potential and excitement of Paso Robles. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that showcases the luscious soſtness and depth produced in our mountainous, oak-studded, maritime-influenced home.

The Austin Hope Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon continues to push the boundaries of what Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is capable of producing. Each Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon barrel is hand selected and tasted by Austin and his winemaking team. They taste through 100's of barrels to find the most decadent juice. These selected barrels come from the best farmed vineyards throughout Paso Robles. The cream of the crop then undergoes extended barrel aging to develop unprecedented structure and character.

Austin Hope Cellar Select Rosé is produced using the direct pressing and saignée methods. With direct pressing, individual lots of grapes were pressed whole cluster with no maceration time and racked clean, while saignée removed juice immediately following a gentle crushing of the berries. With good timing, both juices have an incredibly light pink color.

Our Malbec is a wonderful display of this dry robust wine. On the nose, sweet tobacco and blackberry aromas continue through to the palate.  Additional flavors of cocoa and plum blend with the fine chalky tannins creating a well-integrated finish to this full bodied wine.

The first sparkling wine by Austin Hope, introducing our Treana Blanc de Blancs  sparkling wine.  This sparkling brut is produced in traditional methode champenoise with notes of citrus and green apple. The perfect wine to toast the Holiday Season.

This Sauvignon Blanc, the classic and perfumy Musqué clone, is grown in near perfect
conditions of sandy loam soils, seasonal warm days and cools nights with daily cooling breezes near
sunset. Very much a Mediterranean climate, these sustainably certified vineyards sit on old floodplain deposits. The combination of ideal soils, climate, sustainability, and clone create balanced vines for
consistently good wine.

The Treana Red blend continues to be a great source of pride for the Hope Family. Known for its depth of character and balancing finesse, this wine possess enticing aromas of cassis, clove and vanilla bean. On the pallet, warming flavors of dark fruit, burnt sugar and baking spices mingle with a hint of leather.  The wine finishes with full bodied tannins that delicately linger.

Often an overlooked varietal, our Merlot is a classic display of this noble grape.  On the nose, dark berry flavors and sweat vanilla intertwine with spicy pepper.  Rich flavors of black cherry, sweet plum and dark chocolate evolve with the rich fine tannins that linger through the finish.

Austin Hope’s latest ode to Paso Robles, expanding his Grenache interests beyond the family estate and into the Adelaida District. This is a wine that bears all the signatures of its coastal mountain terroir—warm afternoons that draw out ripe expression; shallow calcareous soils that impart structural finesse; and marine cooling that fosters energy and elegance. An enchanting rendition of Grenache, flushed with lavender, strawberry and summer herbs.

Petite Sirah Blend

This Lagrein & Petite Sirah blend is a beautiful rich deep purple color.  On the nose, brooding mulberry is brightened by a splash of fresh blueberries and a hint of sweet sage. The dark fruit flavors continue onto the palate with the addition of rich chocolate shavings and crushed black pepper.  On the finish, a surprising touch of acidity rounds out this robust red wine.

Our Treana Chardonnay is a beautiful medium bodied wine that display our signature notes of creamy caramel. On the pallet the weighted mouth feel is brightened with fresh honey, summer melon and a bright splash of Meyer lemon. The wine finishes with lingering notes of minerality and fresh acidity to balance.

Treana is your quintessential Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon.  From the depth of color and intense nose, this wine is made with structure and purpose.  On the palate, flavors of beautiful rich blackberry, warm vanilla, toasted coffee and black cherry are finished with firm but refined tannins.

Our Sauvignon Blanc is a clean pale yellow that pairs beautifully with the Meyer lemon nose and hints of lemon grass. Flavors of sweet lemon curd a touch of vanilla are livened by the slightest hint of uncut jalapeno. This medium bodied white has an inherent creaminess from neutral oak barrels and splash of acid that excites.

A wine from some of the oldest Syrah vineyards in Santa Barbara County, reflecting the roots of the California Syrah movement. Santa Barbara County’s ultra-coastal terroir is vividly reflected in this limited-edition Syrah, most notably with its meaty character and white pepper spices. The palate is juicy and sumptuous, with soft energy on the finish. A must-try for fans of cool climate Syrah.

Syrah Blend

Austin Hope’s longtime fascination with Rhône varieties finds new expression with this Syrah-Grenache blend, grown in the ultra-coastal terroir of Santa Barbara County. The classic synergy between these two varieties is evident in the wine’s sleek, seamless character. The mouthfeel is rich yet vibrant, reflecting both the darkness of Syrah and the lightness of Grenache. A wine for fans of all things Rhône.

Our Estate Graciano was planted in 2012 and continues to thrive. The Graciano is a beautiful dark ruby in color. Aromas of fresh violets, juicy mulberry and a touch of cedar continue through the palate with the addition of a hint of evergreen that are spiced up with white pepper.  This incredibly balanced wine finishes with firm integrated tannins.
