Nose

This 100% Cabernet Franc pours with red currant, tobacco, and hints of earth fragrances dominating the aromatics.

Palate

The vibrant bouquet opens to a parade of flavors including plum, dark chocolate, black cherry and an exquisite black licorice that will heighten your taste buds. The hint of oak spice and fresh herbs carry the soft, well structured, full-bodied finish as it continues to linger on your tongue for what seems like ages.

Growing Conditions

The 2015 season, the fourth season of the drought, brought unseasonably cold, windy and cloudy weather in May, greatly impacting berry set. Fortunately, weather during veraison was mild, preserving color development. This very warm year in concert with the extremely small crop size lead to very high quality fruit.

Plummer Vineyard, located on the East side of Paso Robles where the Cabernet Franc planting was planted with a WSW to ENE row orientation, selected to reduce fruit exposure to direct sunlight during veraison. This unique row orientation has successfully reduced fruit sunburn and allows harvest “hang time” flexibility. Wines made from Plummer Vineyard fruit have consistently shown intense color and good acidity/tannin balance.
