Palate

Ballard Lane Zinfandel delivers a sense of place and a great expression of the Central Coast. The vineyards produced a medium bodied wine with integrated silky tannins that is aromatically fruit driven as well as on the palate. Flavors of cherry, strawberry jam and raspberry with a hint of cracked black pepper.

Harvest

The fruit was picked before dawn.

Winemaking

Cold soaked for two days before fermenting with D254 yeast in order to ensure a fruit forward wine and promote smooth tannins. Fermentation had extended extraction before undergoing malolactic fermentation.

Aging

Aged on French and American medium toast oak for 6 months.
