Palate
This wine exemplifies the classic blends of the Rhone Valley. Grenache supplies the flavors of red and black fruit, Counoise, wildness and spice, and Syrah supplies a firm backbone of luscious tannins. Spiced raspberry, blackberry are married with perfect structure and balance. Rich yet accessible.
Growing Conditions
2014 on the California Central Coast will be remembered as the year without a winter. A few cold weeks in January were folowed by unseasonably warm winter and spring months. These warm months coupled with a prolonged drought called for very careful vineyard management to ensure a sucessful vintage. Vigilance in the vineyard paid off. Proper management of water and plants tresses led to reduced yields and a very small berry size which, inturn, produced very concentrated, complex wines. 2014 will be remembered as a banner year in California.
Our grapes are sourced from our vineyards on California’s beautiful central coast. Cooling breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean contribute foggy mornings and lower summer temperatures, which produces exceptional, expressive fruit.
Winemaking
The grapes were hand picked early in the morning and gently de-stemmed into small open top fermenters. After fifteen days of fermentation, the must was gently pressed and aged in oak for 16 months.
Aging
16 months in French Barrels and American Oak Barrels
Food Pairing
